Cover Feature: Simultaneous Hydrogenation of an Insulated Diarylacetylene Dimer Incorporated as Axle Molecules in a Cyclodextrin‐Based [c2]Daisy Chain Rotaxane (Chem. Eur. J. 70/2024)

Type: article
Abstract: The Cover Feature illustrates the possible synthetic routes for an “impossible” [c2]daisy chain rotaxane. The synthesis was achieved through simultaneous hydrogenation of both diarylacetylene moieties within a pre-prepared [c2]daisy chain rotaxane. This study demonstrates that the axle moieties of [c2]daisy chain rotaxanes can undergo chemical modification due to their expandable and contractible structural features, thereby advancing the development of functional interlocked molecules.
