Exploring The Pharmacogenetic, Physicochemical, And Phytochemical Features of Tridax Procumbens Linn.
Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: Tridax procumbenes Linn. well known as Tridax daisy or coat Button, Family Asteraceae. The aim of the present study is to obtained detailed pharmacognostic, physicochemical characters and phytochemical screening of the leaves. The various pharmacognostic parameters were determined viz macroscopic, microscopic including vein-islet number: 9, vein termination number: 2, stomatal index: 23.8, powder microscopic characteristics, fluorescence analysis, physicochemical properties (Total Ash: 18.90 ± 0.17 , acid-insoluble ash: 6.88 ± 0.04, water soluble ash: 6.4 ± 0.05, alcohol soluble extractive value: 6.93 ± 0.08, water soluble extractive value: 18.30 ± 0.05, moisture content: 11.13 ± 0.12 ) and phytochemical screening of leaves ethanolic extracts indicates presence of secondary metabolites such as alkaloids, glycosides, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, steroids. The current study reveals the standardised constant pharmacognostics, physicochemical parameters of the leaves of Tridax procumbenes for correct selection, identification of herb and quality control in research development and formulations.
