Reorienting health systems towards a PHC approach: why you cannot do it without enabling legal systems
Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: Universal health coverage (UHC) means that all people have access to the full range of quality health services they need, when and where they need them, without financial hardship. It covers the full continuum of essential health services, from health promotion to prevention, treatment, rehabilitation and palliative care across the life course. The latest UHC global monitoring report shows that improvements to health services coverage have stagnated since 2015 while the proportion of the population that faced catastrophic levels of out-of-pocket health spending has increased. 1 What can be done to reverse these trends?
