Abstract: Osteochilus spilurus (Bleeker, 1851) is a consumption fish with important economic value for the people of Belitung Island. The exploitation of their capture from river has the potential to disrupt their natural population. The domestication of this fish has reached the first level and continues towards artificial spawning. The main problem in selecting broodstock is the difficulty in sorting male and female fish based on their morphology. Geometric morphometric is used to describe the morphometric and body shape of male and female of O. spilurus. In terms of morphometrics and body shape, O. spilurus exhibits a little amount of sexual dimorphism between males and females. The differ are on morphometrically of pre-anal length and body shape of the anal and caudal penducts. Due to their close resemblance, O. spilurus males and females cannot be chosen using secondary sexual characters for spawning and domestication of broodstock. Instead, primary features must be observed.
