Abstract: Artificial intelligence (AI) is used in many aspects of life, from personal voice assistants to product recommendations in online stores to advanced diagnostic systems in medicine. All these applications show how AI technology is becoming an increasingly integral part of everyday life. Understanding the basics of AI is key to recognizing its role in traffic management. AI can be used to monitor and control road traffic, prevent traffic jams and road crashes, support vehicle diagnostics, and optimize response times for emergency services and roadside assistance. Particular attention should be paid to reducing the number of fatal road crashes. This goal is to be achieved by integrating AI with autonomous vehicle technology, which should improve or even reduce the number of road accident victims to 0.
