Type: article
Abstract: Itajahya is a phalloid genus characterised by the presence of a calyptra, a sterile slightly wavy tissue which remains attached to the pseudostipe by a thin membrane. This paper presents macroscopic and microscopic features of immature and mature basidiomes of two species collected in northeastern Argentina, I. galericulata and I. rosea. Furthermore, we emphasise the contrast between the two species and also provide a comparative morphological analysis. Photographs of their development and illustrations of the basidia and basidiospores are included. This study reports the first record of Itajahya rosea for Argentina.
