Green Radish Polysaccharides Ameliorate Hyperlipidemia in High-Fat-Diet-Induced Mice via Short-Chain Fatty Acids Production and Gut Microbiota Regulation
Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: The objective of this study was to examine the hypolipidemic effect and potential mechanism of Green radish polysaccharide (GRP) in hyperlipidemic mice. The results demonstrated that GRP was able to effectively reduce the body weight of high-fat mice, reduce the liver index, significantly reduce the levels of TG, TC, LDL-C, ALT and AST, increase the level of HDL-C, and enhance the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory abilities of organisms. Consequently, the size of fat cells is reduced, the damage to liver and intestinal tissues caused by a high-fat diet is alleviated, the abnormal accumulation of lipid droplets is reduced, lipid metabolism is promoted, lipid metabolism is improved, and the effects of lowering lipids are achieved. Furthermore, GRP plays a role in regulating the composition of the intestinal microbiota, including the ratio of Firmicutes to Mycobacteria F/B. For instance, Blautia has been shown to alleviate liver damage and treat hyperlipidaemia. Metabolite pathway analysis using the Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) identified the glycolysis/glycolytic metabolism and propionate metabolism pathways as potential targets for GRP to ameliorate hyperlipidemia.
