Book Review. Life in a New Language by Ingrid Piller, Donna Butorac, Emily Farrell, Loy Lising, Shiva Motaghi-Tabari & Vera Williams

Year: 2024

Type: book-review

Abstract: Life in a New Language highlights the importance of "language" in its title, while the book cover vividly depicts individuals from different professions, races, and ages, evoking the sense of both 'new' life and 'new' language, as newcomers so often must quickly adapt to both. This thoughtful design clearly addresses language from the perspectives of multiple speakers/voices, subtly linking the two themes of the book: immigration and language.
