The Use of “Forth Calcium” Fertilizer in Second-Season Corn Planting in the Center-West of Brazil

Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: Objective: This study aims to use FortCálcio fertilizer as an alternative fertilizer option for corn crops in the central-western regions of Brazil. Theoretical Framework: Corn quality depends on several characteristics, including proper soil management, choice of the right variety, and fertilizer application. Of all the nutrients a corn plant needs to grow healthily, calcium is essential. As an important component of the cell wall material in plants, calcium provides structure and rigidity. Method: The methodology adopted for this research involves a scientific field study with a quantitative approach. Results and Discussion: For the first time in the region, FortCálcio fertilizer is used to replace traditional “NPK mineral” fertilizers in corn cultivation. The use of this fertilizer achieved the objective of maintaining crop productivity above the national average, in addition to increasing productivity in relation to the absolute control “zero dose”. Research Implications: The topics covered here are those that in the text portray a realistic vision of field application with an extensionist focus, aiming at improvements for rural producers. Originality/Value: The contribution in terms of novelty that this research makes lies in the approaches that are taken and in new working methods and new applications. Its adequacy and values are justified as being adequate by the statement that more research along the same lines is needed.
