MHz-to-THz Plasmonic Modulator

Abstract: Plasmonic modulators are demonstrated to feature a THz bandwidth. Characterizations from 10 MHz to beyond 1 THz are performed. The modulator and pad capacitances are extracted and quantified, indicating potential for even higher bandwidths. We demonstrate the fastest electro-optic component to date.
