Abstract: Literary discourse has been presented in different ways throughout the history of didactics and the various approaches to foreign language teaching. Its literacy implies approaching the lexicon beyond its semantic value, allowing us to reach its communicative function through its pragmatic value. This double dimension is established through Literary Competence as the particular way of creating a discourse through language, used as a medium for specific purposes in specific contents. The guidelines for its acquisition and mastery are decisive at all levels of language. In this article, reflections are presented on the variables, methodological perspectives and didactic materials that allow its teaching-learning from the context of foreign language learners or additional language learners.
