Abstract: Basketball is an important means of physical education of the youth; it requires every athlete to be completely dedicated, to show a variety of movements such as walking, running, stopping, turnarounds, jumping, throwing, passing the ball which are carried out during active actions of attack and defense. Athletes are required to achieve a high level of physical and technical fitness. Therefore, the study of these issues continues to be the focus of specialists' attention. The purpose of the research is to study a three-year longitudinal study of the dynamics of physical and technical fitness of young basketball players, as well as the development of relatively effective tools and pedagogical approaches for their development. The research was carried out in three stages: from 2022 to 2024 (1st stage September-October 2022, 2nd stage March-April 2023, 3-rd stage March - February 2024). in different regions of our country.80 young basketball players aged 14-16 were observed. The data obtained indicate an inadequate improvement in the studied indicators over 3 experimental years. So, in some tests, the results considerably improved , while in others the growth rate was somewhat slow. This is typical not only for individual indicators, but also for separate basketball teams. The heterogeneity of the changes in the indicators of physical and technical fitness of young basketball players allows us to come to a number of conclusions. First, there were some omissions in the planning of year-round training, and secondly, in some cases, the age characteristics of young basketball players were not so strictly considered. As a matter of preference, it is necessary to carry out pedagogical testing more often and to monitor the two main aspects of training. The author's research in this direction is still going on.
