Abstract: The article deals with the ways of creating artistic images of children in the works of F.M. Dostoevsky and A.P. Chekhov. As a research task, an attempt was made to comparatively analyze the Christmas stories "The Boy at Christ on the Christmas Tree" by F.M. Dostoevsky and "Vanka" by A.P. Chekhov. Following the logic of building an artistic image and the genre of the Christmas story, the author traces the similarities and differences in recreating children's images. The article is recommended for students and researchers of the works of F.M. Dostoevsky and A.P. Chekhov.
