Peculiarities of formation and checking of the accreditation scope of calibration laboratory

Abstract: Calibration of standards and measuring instruments is an important part of ensuring the accuracy of measurements in various industries. The calibration scope indicates how accurate and reliable measurements can be made by the measuring device in a certain range of values. Checking of the calibration scope of laboratory is an important stage aimed at ensuring compliance of measuring procedures and means with relevant standards. The laboratory shall use the decision rule, taking into account the level of risk associated with used rule. There is a risk of erroneous decision making due to greater measurement uncertainty. Using guard bands can reduce the likelihood of making a bad decision. An algorithm is proposed for deciding on the compliance of the calibration scope, taking into account various guard bands. The results of processing data from the laboratory calibration sphere and calibration results using developed special software that implements the proposed algorithm are presented.
