Abstract: The promulgation of the 1937 Constitution in Ireland confirmed the ideas put in place since the creation of the Irish Free State in 1922. The country would be immersed in the tradition marked by the Catholic Church and its teachings, maintaining values that would limit the freedom of the most vulnerable groups. However, it also marked the beginning of demands by feminists and minority groups, as well as by politicians such as Mary Robinson, which would continue to this day. Eighty-seven years and two referendums later, the population continues to be in favor of keeping their concept of family unchanged.
