Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: The continuous evolution of hydraulic machinery demands innovative tools for improving the design and performance of centrifugal pumps. This study presents the development and validation of a Visual Basic application for designing centrifugal pump rotors, leveraging Euler's theory and similarity laws. The mathematical modeling includes essential parameters such as pump head, flow rate, and efficiency, which are computed based on theoretical equations and user-provided inputs. The software's ability to automate calculations provides engineers with a quick and reliable solution for optimizing pump performance. Experimental validation and comparative analysis with existing studies confirm the software’s accuracy in predicting pump behavior. The results highlight the importance of parameters such as flow rate, rotational speed, and hydraulic head in achieving optimal pump performance. Additionally, the software facilitates detailed parametric studies and generates data that can be exported for further analysis. This research contributes to the development of accessible computational tools, bridging the gap between theoretical principles and practical applications in hydraulic engineering. Future developments will focus on integrating advanced computational methods and expanding the software’s capabilities.
