Abstract: This article is an attempt to study the role of the left-wing press and propaganda in covering the activities of the Anti-Imperialist League. During the preparation of the first congress of the League, it was decided to cover the process of its creation and promote its ideas in the press in order to spread the ideas of anti-imperialism and the fight against colonialism. For this purpose, German communist and liberal newspapers were involved on the basis of agreements with the editors of the publications. The analysis of the press makes it possible to understand the mechanisms of work of the ideological inspirers of the League and the role of the Comintern. The coverage of the events of the congresses in Brussels (1927) and in Frankfurt am Main (1929), as well as the promotion of the ideas of the Anti-Imperialist League in the daily press of Weimar Germany did not find a response from the reading audience. An auxiliary tool was the "Workers' Illustrated Newspaper", created by V. Munzenberg on behalf of the Comintern. The Workers' Illustrated Newspaper has become a success ful propaganda weapon in promoting the ideas of communism, anti-imperialism and anti-colonialism. Munzenberg, having relative freedom of action with the knowledge of the Comintern, worked with a group of associates be longing to the "Munzenberg group". The team that worked on the "Workers' Illustrated Newspaper" managed to competently combine various subjects in it, ranging from events organized by the Communist movement and Anti-Imperialist congresses, ending with the publication of works of art and headings intended for women. Such a selection of material has significantly expanded the newspaper's audience. A distinctive feature of the "Work ing Illustrated Newspaper" was the active use of illustrative material, relevant photos and photomontage. The decline of the Anti-Imperialist League and the Workers' Illustrated Newspaper began after the Nazis came to power, when the focus of problems shifted from the fight against colonialism to anti-fascism.
