Abstract: AI has a vital role in modern software development practices that enable build-ing of multiple AI-powered solutions. The aim of this review is to present a broad overviewof AI’s application in engineering, focusing primarily on software development and its re-cent expansion into various engineering domains. The review will explore different phases ofAI development, their integration with conventional engineering tools, and their impact onsoftware design. Additionally, it will delve into the intersection of AI and software design,highlighting the potential for enhanced efficacy, precision, and innovation across specific en-gineering disciplines. Moreover, the review addresses persisting challenges and limitationshindering the widespread adoption of AI technologies in software product development, par-ticularly in scenarios devoid of human intervention.
