Abstract: Grapevine, a temperate zone plant, has been an important plant that has served to meet various needs of many people throughout history. Turkish tribes that have lived and continue to live in this zone have also given special importance to the grapevine and grape fruit. The Caucasus and Anatolian lands, where the plant originates, have hosted many products obtained from grapes. Turkestan has also been a region where similar products are produced and consumed, and grapes are held in high regard. In Dîvânu Lugâti’t-Türk, an important work for Turkish history and the Turkish world, there is also the value given to grapes and the areas of use of grapes in different forms such as fruit, vinegar, and sherbet. These uses constitute the starting point of the study. The comparison and compilation of information in the literature, together with the uses observed by the author in daily life, constitute the method of the study. In the article, the areas of use of grapevine and grape fruit from the past to the present within the axis of Dîvânu Lugâti’t-Türk are tried to be analyzed in the context of cultural continuity. The study first includes the biological and geographical characteristics of the grape plant, then provides information about its brief history. Based on the uses of grapevine and grape in Divanü Lügati’t Türk, the existence of similar and different uses, especially in Anatolia today, is determined. The similarities and changes observed in terms of cultural continuity are recorded in the article.
