Abstract: As the academic community continues to conduct in-depth research on digital platforms and related fields, more and more results have confirmed that digital platform capabilities have a positive effect on corporate performance, and new product development performance is a key part of corporate performance. Improvisational behavior is a beneficial strategy for organizations to navigate complex and changing environments and secure survival opportunities. Based on the aforementioned background, this paper examines the relationship between digital platform capabilities and new product development performance in technology-based small and medium-sized enterprises, using organizational improvisation as an intermediary bridge and a combination of theoretical research and empirical analysis. Based on the survey results, this study puts forward the following management suggestions: build a digital platform to lay a solid foundation for new product development; expand improvisational research at the organizational level to improve new product development performance; improve platform integration capabilities and platform reconstruction capabilities to cope with environmental dynamics.
