Abstract: Since the theory of "discourse analysis" was put forward, it has attracted many scholars’ attention. General Senior High School English Curriculum Standards and the requirements of the new curriculum reform emphasizes the importance of discourse teaching in the English teaching. Based on the discourse analysis theory, this study explores the current situations and problems in senior high school English reading teaching, such as teachers' lack of understanding of the theory, the fact that the theory is not widely used, and teachers' neglect of introducing the cultural background of the discourse. It proposes some teaching method of reading for senior high school English, which can be combined with discourse analysis, aiming to help teachers change the traditional teaching mode, learn and combine discourse analysis theory with teaching, and optimize the teaching methods, so as to help students form discourse awareness and improve their comprehensive quality of reading.
