Abstract: This paper describes, using data from the CORPES XXI and the MESA CORPUS, the different syntactic configurations that the construction no (te) creas adopts in discourse. It acts as a free verbal syntagm in a sentence and also as an independent intonational unit, with mobility in the utterance. Its different behavior is analyzed from a pragmatic linguistic methodology and a macrosyntactic approach, considering its appearance as a free, semi-free and fixed construction. In the latter case, the study investigates whether the construction has undergone a co-optation process (Heine 2013) that makes it function as a thetical (Kaltenböck/Heine/ Kuteva 2011), that is, as a discursive operator or semi-free construction (Goldberg 1995; Gras/Sansiñena 2015). The procedural content it expresses and its function in the textual macrostructure are also delimited.
