Abstract: To study the complex and highly nonlinear mechanical properties of HDR(II) bearings with shear tenon, six full-scale HDR(II) bearings with shear tenon and one HDR(I) bearing without shear tenon were designed and fabricated for tests. The vertical compression performance test , the shear performance tests under different shear strain, compressive stress and reciprocating loading times, and the ultimate shear performance test were carried out. The test results show that the shear tenon improves the vertical and lateral stiffness of HDR(II) bearing to a certain extent, and the elastic hysteresis of HDR(II) bearing is more obvious than that of HDR(I) bearing. The shear damage process of the HDR(II) bearings were simulated and verified by finite element software. A 13-parameter horizontal shear hysteretic constitutive (HSHC) model is proposed. The model can accurately simulate the mechanical behavior of HDR(II) bearings under 0.5–3 times the design shear strain, such as hyperelastic deformation, contribution of shear tenon protected by rubber, hysteretic energy dissipation and stiffness degradation under multiple loading, and the simulation results show a high degree of consistency with the test results.
