Abstract: ConclusionThis study indicates that catalytic dehydrogenation would only be favorable in unique cases that incorporate renewable electricity.• Electricity makes up over 95% of hydrogen Global Warming Potential (GWP).• Renewable electricity reduces GWP by 80-90%.• Pipeline length influences GWP: steel production emissions dominate for shorter (<100 miles) lengths and compression electricity emissions for longer lengths.• Pipeline transport makes up less than 1% of hydrogen GWP.
