Type: article
Abstract: The aim of the research work is use to modify xanthan gum in formulation and evaluation of ocular inserts. Method and materials: Ocular inserts was made from ciprofloxacine, modified xanthan gum, propylene glycol, glycerin by using solvent casting method. Result and Discussion: FTIR study a major characteristic peak of ciprofloxacin was found at 3540.67cm. The result of DSC was found at the ciprofloxacin compared two endothermic peaks at 154c and 168c.The thickness was found in between 0.12+-0.05 to 6.8+-0.05. The ocular inserts were coated with Eudragit S100.The ocular inserts using propylene glycol and modified xanthan gum as a polymer were successfully prepared and can be effectively conclusion based on these finding. It was concluded that the designed ocular inserts are a realistic alternative to conventional eye drop by virtue of its ability to improve patient’s compliance, bioavailability and improving patient compliance.
