Computational Literary Studies in the Context of Contemporary Czech Literary Studies – Especially the Concept of the Corpus of Czech Novels

Abstract: The paper discusses some issues related to the field called computational literary studies (CLS), which belongs to the digital humanities. The introduction deals mainly with the Czechoslovak literary and partly linguistic tradition that preceded this discipline. The author then introduces Czech projects that represent specialised literary corpora, in particular focusing on the emerging corpus and web application of the Czech Corpus of Prose, describing its overall structure, individual parameters and specific functions.
