Abstract: The improper conduct of food waste creates a global problem if nothing is remediated. Hydrogen’s potential ability to be converted from food waste creates an appealing possibility as a renewable energy option. The environmental search for renewable energy sources is ever present in the age of rapid fossil fuel consumption. Hydrogen as a renewable source of energy is considered to be the most efficient and clean. Recent lab studies provide a promising outlook on this environmental accomplishment through the processes of dark fermentation and anaerobic digestion. This paper will highlight the current and emerging processes that aim to solve major global environmental concerns.
