Year: 2024
Type: conference-paper
Abstract: This qualitative study investigates the influence of civic participation on building social resilience in the Republic of Moldova. Civic participation, encompassing activities such as voting, volunteering, and community involvement, plays a critical role in enhancing social resilience—the capacity of communities to withstand and recover from challenges. The study examines various theoretical frameworks related to civic engagement, including the Civic Voluntarism Model, Mobilization Theory, and Social Capital Theory. It also explores the specific context of the Republic of Moldova, considering factors such as democratic transition, the role of technology, and the impact of economic and social barriers. Through qualitative methods, the study aims to provide insights into how civic participation contributes to social resilience and identifies key challenges and opportunities within the Republic of Moldova’s context.
