Community Forest Management of Tectona grandis Through Growth Increments, In Sungai Siring, Samarinda

Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: Tectona grandis (Teak) community forests have the potential to produce wood products. The potential of teak community forest management is becoming increasingly important. Teak is the main choice for many forest farmers in Indonesia due to its high economic value, especially related to producing high-quality wood used for construction and furniture. Teak can grow under adaptive conditions and is easily developed by communities. Teak growth of increment affected by internal and external factor. Good management of teak will produce fast growth rates and large-diameter class through by increment knowledge. Measurement of diameter at the breast height, total height, and the number of trees, age of plant, and space of plant using plot sampling is 20 m x 50 m plot. Data analysis with descriptive statistics is used to determine whether the data is error or not. Calculating the increment based on diameter, base plane (m2), volume (m3), and Mean Annual Increment (MAI). The research aims to determine the increment based on the average diameter (cm), the average diameter of the base plane (m2), and the increment based on volume (m3) and MAI. The results of the study were that 13-year-old teak had an average diameter of 15.688 cm, an average base diameter of 0.002 m2, and a volume-based increment of 0.337 m3 and MAI of 1.207 cm/year. While the 9-year-old Teak has an average diameter of 22.134 cm, an average base plane diameter of 0.002 m2, an increment by volume of 0.346 m3 and MAI of 2.459 cm/year. The MAI growth of teak in Sungai Siring Community Forest is slower because it is not influenced by environmental factors
