Study design: Observational Study
Abstract: Background: Patient safety and care quality are critical priorities in high-risk units where complex and rapid-response care is essential. Interdisciplinary collaboration among nursing professionals offers a potential pathway to improve outcomes, reduce errors, and provide comprehensive, patient-centered care. Objective: To evaluate the impact of interdisciplinary collaboration on patient safety and care quality among nursing professionals working in high-risk units. Methods: A quantitative, descriptive study was conducted with 350 nursing professionals across ICUs, EDs, and NICUs. Data were collected via structured questionnaires focusing on collaboration practices, patient safety, and care quality indicators. Statistical analysis included correlation and regression to assess relationships between collaboration and patient outcomes. Results: Findings indicated strong positive correlations between interdisciplinary collaboration practices and patient safety (r = 0.72, p < 0.01) and care quality (r = 0.68, p < 0.01). High ratings were observed for reduced errors (4.3/5), improved response times (4.4/5), and continuity of care (4.5/5), suggesting that collaboration enhances care efficiency and effectiveness. Conclusion: Interdisciplinary collaboration among nursing professionals in high-risk units substantially improves patient safety and care quality, making it a critical practice for optimizing outcomes in these settings.
