Abstract: Turbidity of drinking water is one of the most important indicators of its quality, according to sanitary rules and regulations it should not exceed 2.6 units of turbidity by formazin (TUF). The use of turbid water in technological processes often leads to failure of equipment, communications, and also contributes to the deposition of mineral and organic particles on the internal surfaces of water pipes and tanks. The purpose of the study is to determine the optimal design and operating parameters of the device for cleaning and disinfecting water, upon reaching which turbidity will not exceed the maximum permissible values. A device combining two stages of water purification from large and small impurities, as well as a stage of its disinfection, is proposed. Theoretical and laboratory studies of the developed device were carried out, during which the effect of water supply and the pore size of the filter element on the turbidity index of water was determined. It was found that when using a filter element with pore sizes of 1 μm and 5 μm, as well as with a feed of 2 l/min, the efficiency of reducing turbidity was 51% with an approximation reliability value of 0.9, which indicates the achieved efficiency of the device. It was also determined that an increase in the water flow rate when it passes through the device is accompanied by an increase in turbidity. The studies were carried out using a turbidity analyzer that operates using the nephelometry method and determines the scattering of light directed at an angle of 90° by suspended particles, which ensures the greatest sensitivity of this device.
