Músicos, letristas y poetas: canto, paráfrasis y glosa en la Edad de Oro. A propósito de «Tiempo bueno, tiempo bueno»

Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: “Tiempo bueno, tiempo bueno” is, perhaps, the most glossed poetic composition of the sixteenth century. In this article, we trace and reconstruct the origin, constitution and transmission of the text and we study how the glosses are related to one another. We conclude that the base text was disseminated primarily by way of music and that the success of this medium resulted in the multiplication of glosses and an awareness on the part of each writer of previous attempts to gloss the text. We offer a complete stemma in which are reflected the transmission of the text, variants introduced in the musical versions and the relationships that exist among the glosses
