Abstract: This study investigates the behavior of glued joints in structural timber, focusing on the analysis of normal and shear stresses occurring in the adhesive line. Test specimens of Eucalyptus grandis glued with resorcinol resin adhesive were utilized. The research aimed to compare the shear strength between the Push-out test and the direct shear test, as well as to evaluate the influence of normal stresses, especially tension perpendicular to the fibers, on the failure of glued joints. The results revealed significant differences in shear strength between the testing methods, highlighting the importance of normal stresses, which proved critical for structural failure. The stress distribution along the adhesive line was found to be non-uniform, with concentrations at the extremities in the elastic phase and greater uniformity in the plastic phase. These findings contribute to the under-standing of the behavior of glued timber joints and suggest the need for detailed analysis to optimize structural performance in practical applications.
