Abstract: This paper describes an adaptive observer designed to estimate the parameters of neural mass networks. Neural mass populations describe the dynamics of cortical networks and are specifically designed to generate spontaneous electroencephalogram and evoked potentials – the brain’s response to an external stimulus. The goal of this work is to adjust the parameters of neural mass models using electroencephalogram recordings from experiments on registering evoked potentials. Both a single neural mass population and the simplest network – two connected neural mass populations – are considered.
