Biological exposure and health risks of arsenic species from medicinal leeches at major exposure points in humans
Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: • The highest human exposure to As from leeches in the gastrointestinal system exceeded 60%. • The bioaccessible As species in leeches are inorganic and less organic. • Human health risks of inorganic As in leeches need attention and their clinical use needs to be re-regulated. • This study guides the scientific regulation and rational use of leech GAP production, standards, and clinicals.
