Abstract: Context and contextual perspective are crucial for reading passages of the Bible. With this in mind, we turn to a new way of reading known as the "ontological turn". We focus on the wind and the sea, elements that have suffered from "ontological cornering", and put them in their place. We consider the nature-culture relationship to be a continuum where a "mutual constitution of intertwined agencies" is produced. We thus contribute elements that are significant in times of climate change. We conclude by discarding the interpretation that considers Jesus to be "Lord of nature" and propose instead the category of "protector of the cosmic order".
