Abstract: This article describes the textbooks of the new generation and the requirements for them in higher educational institutions in the philological direction. The quality of new generation textbooks is aimed at the formation of competence in students and is evaluated by the content of the textbook. One of the main requirements for new generation textbooks is to fully adapt its structure and content to the topics of the model program of a particular subject.
