Connotations of Prelinear and Linear Notation Systems in Music as a Factor of Culturogenesis of the Performing Arts
Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: According to Edgar Morin, the systemogenesis and culturogenesis of performance art in music occur through a recursive loop that appeals to the metaphysical foundations of the system. At the semiological level, this manifests as a connotation between prelinear and linear notation systems. The actualization of prelinear notation systems, along with a specific group-oriented approach to vocal training, forms an integral part of contemporary music pedagogy. These are systemic features that allow us to characterize the ecological potential of choral and instrumental performance as a unity of complementary systems. Historically, these systems have been interdependent, as evidenced by the ongoing diversity of perspectives on the essence of human performance within musical spaces such as choirs or symphony orchestras. However, the central issue lies elsewhere: to reveal the ecological principle of self-preservation inherent in these systems. A reference to notation systems is essential for any ecosystemic analysis. Musical notation, in this context, becomes the key to interpreting the appeal to the metaphysical origins of musical culture as a whole
