Popularization of Ukrainian Naive Art by Means of Multimedia Design

Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: Naive art is one of the important parts of Ukrainian fine art and has captured the attention of scholars and collectors in recent decades. The issue of popularizing works of naive art for the wider society in Ukraine and abroad is poorly studied. The author focuses on examples of reinterpretation and popularization of famous masters of Ukrainian naive painting by various means of multimedia design. This article aims to analyze examples of combining traditional ways of popularizing fine art (exhibitions, conferences, festivals, films) with the latest technologies and means of multimedia design. It was determined that the ways of popularizing the authors of naive art by means of multimedia design are mainly based on the use of video and animation and 3D technologies (artistic, documentary, animated films, 3D exhibition galleries, etc.); there is often also a combination of audio sequences, video sequences, virtual reality creation tools, etc. at exhibitions. Positive are traditional means of popularizing naïve art: conferences, discussions, exhibitions, art projects, master classes, which partially include multimedia design tools (presentations, videos, infographics, etc.). The author highlights that the works of naive painting are practically not used to create computer games, and such an initiative would lead to wider involvement of children and youth audiences.
