Abstract: Cardiorenal syndrome is a complex clinical condition affecting both the kidney and the heart. It is divided into 5 different subgroups according to various clinical features. However, in most clinical settings this is difficult to determine because the pathophysiology is complex and the pathways are poorly understood. Given this complex clinical situation, many challenges arise in the management of both acute and chronic cardiorenal syndrome. In this review, the definition, classification, pathophysiology and treatment of cardiorenal syndrome are examined.
