Abstract: The objective of this study is to analyze the performance of a photovoltaic (PV) system connected to the grid. The system's performance was analyzed through a simulation conducted with PVsyst software, created by the University of Geneva. This tool utilizes its comprehensive database, which includes geographic information and detailed technical parameters of various components, to assess system behavior. This software is capable of analyzing and sizing both standalone systems with battery storage and grid-connected systems. In this work, we propose a grid-connected photovoltaic power plant for two distinct sites in Algeria: Tamanrasset and Algiers. These sites were selected due to their contrasting geographical and meteorological characteristics (e.g., solar irradiance, ambient temperature). A consistent power capacity of 40 kW was selected for both sites to examine the impact of factors like solar panel orientation and sunlight availability on the performance of a photovoltaic installation. The simulation results, generated using PVsyst, are presented in the form of graphs and tables, offering a detailed comparison of the system's behavior under the specific conditions of each site.
