Abstract: Overcoming the consequences of a war in Ukraine after its end will require significant human resources and time. In this article, the unique experience of Mariupol community on reimagining its pre-war experience and the development of strategic vision of Mariupol development after the de-occupation is outlined. An understanding of the urban planning challenges, basic principles and directions for solving current problems related to socio-economic development, creation of a decent living environment, commemoration of tragic events and overcoming other consequences of the war are presented as part of the urbanistic vision of the city.
