Abstract: This study, which gained independence in 1991 and stands out as one of the most important states of the Turkistan geography, analyses the political, economic and socio-cultural development processes of Turkmenistan in the post-independence period. The changes in the political structure of Turkmenistan in the first years after independence, the elections held and the efforts to ensure political stability are discussed in detail and analysed in the context of diplomatic relations established with regional and global actors. In this context, the strategic partnership and cultural ties established with Turkey are particularly emphasised, and the effects of the cooperation policies developed with other states in the regional and international arena are evaluated. In the study, the socio-cultural life of Turkmenistan is analysed in the axis of traditional structures and modernisation processes, and efforts to protect the daily life of the people and cultural identity are revealed. In economic analyses, the country's economic structure based on strategic resources such as natural gas and electricity, industrialisation policies and its position in international trade are examined. Reforms in the field of education, education of the young population and scientific progress are also analysed in detail. This study aims to provide an academic framework for the country's unique position in the Turkic world and the international community by analysing the post-independence transformation processes of Turkmenistan from historical, political, economic and cultural perspectives.
