Abstract: Being one of the first novels about the War of Independence, Ateşten Gömlek depicts the superior effort and effort of the people during the war years to gain victory, and emphasizes the national reason for this effort, the epic character and the common destiny and struggle of the society. In the novel, Izmir girl Ayşe, whom we will consider as an epic hero, is the most important figure symbolizing the epic dimension of the national struggle. After being oppressed by hostile forces, she sheds her individuality and adds epic heroism to her feminine qualities, dragging the masses behind her and showing an example of personal maturation. The integrity of the epic explains how Ayşe, who matured and emerged as an epic hero, drags the masses behind her, and the common fate of the hero and the society. In this study, the epic personality of Ayşe, the hero in the center, and her integration with the ideal of society will be evaluated through Georg Lukacs's Novel Theory
