Abstract: This study analyzed the venue planning for the World City Expo, originally scheduled for 1996, yielding three key insights. First, architects involved in this exposition proposed innovative and experimental venue designs, aiming to surpass conventional exposition standards. Second, Toyo Ito’s initial Media Park proposal featured a barcode-like district plan, later revised to a more conventional layout. Third, while Kenzo Tange envisioned Singapore as the ideal city model, Ito drew inspiration from Bangkok’s floating markets.
