Abstract: Unicystic ameloblastoma is generally less aggressive and has a lower recurrence rate than solid or multicystic ameloblastomas, making it more amenable for conservative treatments such as enucleation or curettage. However, in case of large cysts, accurate diagnosis can be challenging depending on the location of biopsy. If unicystic ameloblastoma is misdiagnosed as other odontogenic or inflammatory cysts, the risk of postoperative recurrence increases. In this paper, we report a case of early recurrence following decompression and enucleation of a large maxillary unicystic ameloblastoma.
