Abstract: The harmonization of laws in general, and investment laws in particular, has become an inevitable trend within ASEAN. Investment laws of member States have shown certain common points, but due to differences in political institutions, legal traditions, cultures, and disparities in intra-regional development, the harmonization of laws faces numerous challenges. This article analyzes (i) the common legal framework on investment in ASEAN; (ii) the investment laws of some ASEAN countries based on comparative analysis, thereby assessing the degree of harmonization, the advantages and disadvantages in this process while providing recommendations for improvement.
