Abstract: Centella asiatica, also known as Gotu kola or Indian pennywort, has been used in traditional medicine systems like Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine. Recently, it has gained global recognition, especially in Korean skincare, due to its active components, such as asiaticoside, madecassoside, and triterpenoids, which promote wound healing, antioxidant protection, and anti-aging effects. Aloe vera, a succulent used medicinally for over 5,000 years across various cultures, contains over 70 biologically active compounds with anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and healing properties. A randomized trial has shown its effectiveness in treating plaque psoriasis. This study aims to formulate a gel combining triterpene compounds from Centella asiatica with Aloe vera to enhance wound healing in diabetic patients. Triterpenes were extracted from Centella asiatica using ethanol via the maceration method, while Aloe vera's bio-enhancing properties improved absorption. The gel, formulated with Centella asiatica extract, Aloe vera gel, Carbopol 940, propylene glycol, benzyl alcohol, and sorbitan solution, was prepared in four concentrations (0.5%, 1%, 1.5%, 2%). Characterization studies, including pH, viscosity, spreadability, extrudability, and in-vitro release, were performed. Stability studies ensured the gel’s usability. Results indicate that the combination of Centella asiatica and Aloe vera shows promise for enhanced wound healing, particularly in diabetic patients.
