Abstract: To make visible the standpoint from which inclusive practices emerge, it is necessary to understand some basic notions associated with inclusive discourses. Such is the case of the notion of disability. Over time, otherness has been labeled in various ways and has been attributed different characteristics, such as blessings or demonic possessions. Specifically, the definition of the term “disability” emerged during the Industrial Revolution as a noun used to refer to people whose conditions did not allow them to remain active and meet the strenuous demands of the workdays of that era. These and other considerations were taken into account to conduct a socio-historical approach aimed at understanding the emergence of the notion of disability as a social construct influenced by class struggle.
