Abstract: The introduction of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) in India marked a paradigm shift in the country's indirect taxation system, aiming to streamline taxation and boost the manufacturing sector. However, several policy gaps continue to hinder its full potential. This study identifies key gaps in GST policies impacting the manufacturing sector, such as compliance burdens, input tax credit (ITC) restrictions, and classification ambiguities.Through a literature review and analysis of manufacturing sector data, this paper suggests reforms to address these issues, emphasizing simplification, transparency, and inclusiveness. The recommendations aim to enhance operational efficiency, competitiveness, and economic growth.
